Dr Veena Bhaskar S Gowda

Head of Department, Biochemistry

Professor Dr Veena Bhaskar S Gowda is a distinguished Head of Department in Biochemistry, bringing 18 years of international teaching and research experience. Her passion for innovative teaching methods and dedication to quality in clinical biochemistry make her a leading figure in her field.

Her expertise spans oxidative stress in female infertility, medical education, and the role of micronutrients in health. She is committed to incorporating teaching methodologies like PBL and CBL, evidenced by her publications and presentations.

Her international experience includes teaching students from the USA and Canada in the Caribbean and introducing innovative teaching techniques in Malaysia. She has presented her research at national and international conferences, receiving awards such as the Best Travel Grant Award at the Japan Society of Medical Education conference and third place for Best Poster at AMBKCON-2021.

Dr Veena has published 14 articles in indexed journals and a book on oxidative stress in female infertility. She has also secured research grants and completed the Advanced Course in Medical Education (ACME). She is actively involved in NABL accreditation, having spearheaded the process for four consecutive cycles as Quality Manager and Laboratory Director.

Her core values are dedication, discipline, perseverance, and devotion. She is a life member of the Association of Medical Biochemists India and the Karnataka chapter.

Beyond her professional achievements, Dr Veena is passionate about Carnatic music and enjoys writing health and travel articles. She has published nearly 12 articles in Kannada newspapers and magazines. Her hobbies include badminton, reading, walking, gardening, and listening to music.
