Admission Procedure
Admissions are subject to the following conditions:

- The student will abide by the rules and regulations of the University including hostel regulations, published by the University administration from time to time.
- All students who have taken admission in the University have to compulsorily serve in any of the free hospitals established by or registered with the University or allied trusts, institutions or foundations of the sponsoring body in rural areas or medically underserved areas as may be posted or transferred by the university at its complete discretion in total for such period equal to such number of years the course student has studied in the University. For the MBBS medical course, it will be five years of compulsory service. During their service, the University will pay the salary as per its norms and regulations.
- The student will compulsorily reside in the University hostel.

The MBBS course is affiliated to Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence, Kalaburgi, Karnataka and is accredited by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The NMC has been constituted by an act of Parliament known as National Medical Commission Act, 2019 which came into force on 25.9. 2020.
This programme covers all preclinical, para-clinical and clinical subjects through theory classes, practical sessions and clinical training as mandated by the NMC guidelines. The Institute focuses on integrated learning for students to understand the role of each subject in accurate diagnosis and holistic treatment.
Basic criteria for application for MBBS

- Candidate must have completed 17 years of age on or before 31 December of the year of admission to the MBBS Course.
- Candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology / Bio-technology, taken together, at the final examination of the Pre-University Course or its equivalent. In respect to candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes the minimum marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology, taken together, in the qualifying examination shall be 40% instead of 50%.
- Candidate must have appeared in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test UG – 2023 (NEET UG – 2023) and qualified for admission to the MBBS course as per the criteria laid down by the Government of India.
- If any of the certificates or information provided at the time of admission is subsequently found to be false, the allotted seat is liable to be cancelled.

Common Counselling by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA)
Counselling for selection of MBBS students to SMSIMSR for the academic year 2023- 2024 will, as directed by NMC, be conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). NEET-UG 2023 qualified candidates who wish to apply for MBBS admission to SMSIMSR should, therefore, register with the Karnataka Examination Authority as per the KEA Schedule. Allocation of seats
All the seats, including NRI/Management quota, are allotted by merit through online counselling conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority. Selection is based on the rank obtained in the National Eligiblity-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) conducted on an all-India basis by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
