Professor K N Sathish Babu is a distinguished Professor of General Medicine, and the Director for Academics & Quality at the Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (SMSIMSR) in Muddenahalli, Karnataka, India. With a robust background in both clinical practice and academic leadership, he is a pivotal figure in advancing medical education and healthcare quality.
Professor Sathish Babu’s expertise spans General Medicine and Endocrinology, underpinned by a comprehensive educational foundation. He holds an MBBS and MD in General Medicine from Bangalore Medical College, India, and is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP, UK). He further completed a rigorous five-year fellowship in General Medicine and Endocrinology, culminating in a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST, London), granting him dual accreditation. This training was undertaken at esteemed institutions including Cambridge University Hospital, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, and King’s College Hospital, London. Prior to his return to India, he served as a Consultant Physician at Cardiff University Hospital, Cardiff, UK.
Professor Sathish Babu’s past leadership roles include serving as a Syndicate Member at Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangalore, where he contributed to key decisions regarding university governance and academic policies. He also convened the Vision Group for Health 2020-22 for the Government of Karnataka, playing a crucial role in shaping state-wide healthcare policies and initiatives.

In addition to his institutional roles, Professor Sathish Babu serves as the National Lead Coordinator for the Sai Swasthya (Wellness Centres) & Divine Mother & Child Health Program, pioneering primary healthcare initiatives under SMSIMSR. These programs focus on delivering vital medical services to underserved communities, with a particular emphasis on maternal and child health. He is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of these programs, ensuring adherence to rigorous standards.
