Dr Niraj Gopinath
Assistant Professor, Anaesthesiology
Dr Niraj Gopinath is an Assistant Professor in Anaesthesiology and a Senior Consultant in Pain Medicine at Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences & Research. With over 25 years of experience, he brings a wealth of expertise in pain management, regional anaesthesia, and difficult airway management.
He completed his MD in Anaesthesia at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Chandigarh, and furthered his training with a Fellowship in Pain Medicine at the University Teaching Hospitals of Leicester, NHS Trust, UK.
He specialises in difficult airway management and ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia, and has a strong interest in clinical research, having led the Clinical Research Unit in Pain Medicine at Leicester Hospitals. Dr Niraj offers innovative treatments, including blood ozonisation and antioxidant therapy for palliative care, and stellate ganglion blocks for mental health disorders.
Dr Niraj was recently recognised as one of the top 7 Indian Anaesthesiologists in the Stanford University 2024 list of the world’s top 2% scientists. He has over 60 publications in international peer-reviewed journals and has presented at the AOA conference in Chandigarh, India.
